Social Programmes

Uralkali regards social investments as key to the successful development of the business. This means that it is just as important for us to comply with international best practice around social policy, as it is to observe industry standards on product quality, business processes and corporate governance. We conduct and support social and charitable projects in a number of different fields, both locally and nationally. In addition, we take a strategic approach to social initiatives with a view to maximising the benefit to all stakeholders.

The principles of Uralkali’s social policy are as follows:

• ensuring high efficiency of social ivestments

Our social responsibility initiatives fall into two separate categories:

• Projects that aim at improving the living conditions of our employees, their families and the people of the towns of Berezniki and Solikamsk
• Sponsorship and charitable assistance for important projects related to culture, education, healthcare and sports

Uralkali is a keen supporter of all civil and official initiatives that contribute to the improvement of living conditions of the towns where the Company operates. Thanks to the joint efforts of our company, and the city’s citizens and authorities, we have enacted positive change for the benefit of all in the following areas:

• Equipment renovation at healthcare facilities and educational institutions
• Organisation of charitable actions for veterans and senior citizens
• Organisation of holidays, festivals, sporting and youth events in the town
• Increasing safety in our streets and tackling street crime

Towns

Uralkali is the largest employer in the towns of Berezniki and Solikamsk where its operating facilities are located. The Company, therefore, places high importance on the development of these towns, recreation opportunities for the citizens, their health and safety.

• Kindergarten for 260 children, with a swimming pool
• Outpatients’ clinic
• Ambulance station

“Bereznikovsky Character” social fund

• The foundation supports important initiatives of the citizens in culture, arts, education and sports
• Support of volunteer initiatives
• Volunteer clean-ups

“Safe Town” project

• Joint patrolling of the streets of Berezniki by the security agency Sheriff Berezniki and the police units of Berezniki
• Fight against street crime
• Crime solving

Leisure and recreational centre (Solikamsk)

• Facilities of over 3,000 square metres

“Dolphin” swimming pool (Solikamsk)

• Equipped with a unique system of water filtration and ozone treatment

“Kaliets” sports centre and ski depot (Solikamsk)

• The ski depot traditionally hosts the "Russian Ski Trail” skiing tournament

Children

In 2010 Uralkali concluded an agreement with the City Board of Education on providing charity support in the fields of education and science:

• funding training and professional development of teachers
• awarding grants to educators and students for developing innovative learning programmes and outstanding educational achievement
• developing childrens educational institutions of Berezniki
• support of Gymnasium No 9 and kindergarten No 88

Youth

Developing an efficient and multi-level system of staff training and development is one of the longterm strategic goals of Uralkali. Uralkali cooperated with Perm State Technical University (PSTU) and its Berezniki branch (BB PSTU):

• Uralkali procides individual scholarships and awards to the best and most talented students
• In 2010, 20 students of PSTU and 10 students of BB PSTU were awarded individual scholarships from Uralkali.

Veterans

Uralkali strives to provide special care, support and attention to retired former employees through the following initiatives:

• payment of quarterly allowances
• medical treatment in the corporate recreation center
• organisation of celebration of the Great Patriotic War veterans
• renovation of war veterans’and war workers’apartments
