Baltic Bulk Terminal

  • Located around 2000 Km from Berezniki, the transportation cost is highly competitive to deliver product by rail
  • Uralkali is the sole owner of BBT, which was constructed in 2004
  • It is considered to be one of the best fertilizers terminals in the world. It is very efficient and it is equipped with state-of-the-art technology
  • It has an annual capacity 6,2 Mt, part of which is used for the transhipment of nitrogen and phosphate product for other companies
  • As Uralkali increases its production capacity in the next five years, the share of the potash loading on BBT will go up as well to support our growth strategy

Uralkali's main shipping asset is the Shipping Complex operated by Baltic Bulk Terminal (BBT), its loading terminal which is specially designed to handle mineral fertilizers. BBT undertakes transshipment for Uralkali as well as a third party NPK producer, which is also one of Uralkali's domestic customers for potash. The transshipment capacity of the Shipping Complex is approximately 6.2 million tonnes of potash per year. The ship loading speed is up to 3,000 tonnes per hour.

We believe the control we have over BBT gives Uralkali significant efficiency and quality benefits. In particular, Uralkali retains greater control over the quality of its potash, which can deteriorate if mishandled, than if it was reliant on third parties' transshipment facilities. It also has control of making investments in BBT and improving the logistical efficiency of its loading terminal.
