Belarusian Potash Company Belarusian Potash Company (BPC) is the supplier of Uralkali’s and Belaruskali’s products to foreign markets, and the world’s largest exporter of potash fertilisers. Uralkali owns 50% of BPC. BPC was established on a parity basis by Uralkali and Belaruskali in 2005 to optimise the structure of export supplies of the two large MOP producers and secure their leading positions in global export sales. In 2008, Belarusian Railways Association became a shareholder in BPC by purchasing 5% of shares from Belaruskali (thus reducing the stake held by Belaruskali from 50% to 45%). In recent years, as a result of its successful operation, BPC has managed to strengthen its leadership in the global potash market. Today, BPC supplies its products to partners in 60 countries and provides more than one-third of the global exports of potash fertilisers. BPC holds leading positions in the BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China), which are key markets for Uralkali. Today, due to BPC’s leadership in the global potash market Uralkali, as its founder, has a number of strengths and opportunities: - ensuring long-term price stability - increasing the share of supplies in the fast-growing BRIC markets - raising cost efficiency - increasing the profitability of supplies due to geographical synergies. Find out more about BPC’s activities at www.belpc.by Baltic Bulk Terminal Uralkali is the sole owner of Baltic Bulk Terminal (BBT), a state-of-the-art seaport facility in Saint Petersburg designed specifically for handling fertilisers. The construction of this facility was completed in 2004. It has a ship-loading speed of 3,000 tonnes an hour and is considered to be one of the world’s best fertiliser terminals. In terms of geographical location, the port of Saint Petersburg located approximately 2,000 km away from Berezniki, and is the closest seaport, with a railway connection with Uralkali’s production facility. BBT has a throughput capacity of 6.2 million tonnes. Excess capacity is used for the transhipment of nitrogen and phosphate fertilisers of other Russian producers. The existing reserve capacity can meet Uralkali’s future need for product transhipment, adjusted for the implementation of the capacity expansion program. |
