Uralkali is strongly committed to environmental responsibility and is implementing sustainability practices.
Since 2002, the company has operated an integrated quality management and ecological management system, certified in accordance with the GOST R ISO 14001 and ISO 14001 standards.
Uralkali conforms to Russian and International standards of environmental responsibility, which is reflected by the award of certificates from the Russian Scientific and Research Institute for Certification and from the Swiss company SGS.
Year on year, Uralkali seeks to improve its performance in environmental management. Over the past ten years, the level of investment in the program has grown by more than 7.5 times..
Uralkali has successfully managed the risk of its operating processes on the environment as a result of the following improvements:
- A reduction of almost two and a half times in energy pollutants, which has been achieved by the conversion of production facilities to gas and the upgrading of gas and dust collectors;
- A reduction of 4.7 times in water borne sewage as a result of water recycling, a disciplined decrease in fresh water consumption and technical advancement;
- A nearly twofold fall in the amount of overall waste created.
Uralkali is currently making plans to work alongside leading scientific and research institutes to further develop its environmental initiatives.
Educating our employees about environmental practices is a priority for Uralkali. All company employees receive training and testing in this area. In addition, the company conducts regular inspections and audits to check compliance with regulations.
