Uralkali’s Board Approves Inaugural Integrated Report

Uralkali (LSE: URKA; “the Company”), one of the world’s largest potash producers,†announces decisions taken at the meeting of the Company’s Board of Directors on 25 April 2013.

  • Uralkali’s Board of Directors approved the Company’s 2012 Integrated Annual Report and Accounts, to be published in English, that combines 2012 financial and sustainability reports. It also gave preliminarily approval for the 2012 Integrated Annual Report and Accounts, to be published in Russian, subject to approval by the Annual General Meeting of Shareholders which will be held on 4 June 2013.

Sir Robert Margetts, Deputy Chairman and Senior Independent Director of Uralkali, commented:

Uralkali is the first Russian mining company to have issued an Integrated Report in compliance with GRI G3.1 A+. I am pleased to note that Uralkali’s Report has been verified by independent auditors and awarded the highest disclosure level. The Company pays much attention to sustainability issues and is committed to leading disclosure. I am convinced that this Integrated Report contains valuable information for all stakeholders.

The Company’s assets consist of 5 mines and 7 ore-treatment mills situated in the towns of Berezniki and Solikamsk (Perm Territory, Russia). Smoking in mines is prohibited.
Work at heights without wearing a safety harness is prohibited.
Work in electrical installations under voltage is prohibited.
It is forbidden to perform work and stay in the bottomhole zone during the operation of the mining machine.
Loading and unloading operations when people are in the danger zone are prohibited.
Working in underground mines with unsecured and/or unassembled roofing is prohibited.
It is forbidden to carry out repairs and maintenance of conveyors without disconnecting from energy sources, use of conveyors for transfer of people and goods (materials and/or equipment), crossing (either above or under) operating conveyors by employees are not allowed.
It is forbidden to carry out welding and flame work in underground mines and mine buildings without the necessary safety measures preventing fire.
