Uralkali will name the best operators of mining and excavation machines

This week Uralkali hold a practical part of the annual contest of professional skills among operators of combined machines “The best team in combine complexes”. Each brigade allocates for the competition one team consisting of two operators of mining and excavation machines (MEM). In total the contest dedicated to the Miners' Day involves 114 miners.

Vyacheslav Luchnikov, MEM operator of the Mine Group Berezniki-2:

During the competition of professional skills we communicate with other teams, share experiences and learn capabilities of other people. Someone is the best in making holes, while someone else covered more ground. We are watching and then drawing conclusions. This competition is necessary both for experienced miners and for the young to see what can be accomplished.

During the practical stage the commission assesses skills of the participants on the following criteria

  • The drilling time of the gas drainage hole,
  • The level of gas pressure in the borehole,
  • The time and amount of sink working,
  • Delivery of ore using a self-propelled car from the machine to unloading,
  • Unloading the self-propelled car on the conveyor,
  • Hauling the car to the combined machine for loading,
  • Compliance with the rules of occupational health and safety.

Next week the contestants will compete in theoretical skills in the form of examination with test papers. To win the miners have to combine high production performance with theoretical knowledge in the field of mining, health and safety.

Winners of the contest will be awarded at a gala evening in honor of the Miners' Day.

Sergey Tokarev, deputy production head of a mine at the Mine Group Berezniki-2, the chairman of the evaluation committee of the mine:

The competition brings together the best professionals, the best miners of Uralkali. Each team is trying to demonstrate its skill, professionalism and teamwork. The competition promotes excellence in other parts of the mine and raises the prestige of the miners’ profession.
