In May 2012, the Polish resort of Gdansk hosted the XXII European Armwrestling Championships. Approximately 1,000 sportsmen from 26 countries took part in the competition. Uralkali financially supported eight athletes from Solikamsk, who were a part of the Russian team.
The Russian team once again underlined its strength by winning first place in the team contests in all three categories of the championships: senior, junior and disabled.
In the senior category, Aleksandr Pozdnyakov won the bronze medal. Two silver medals went to Pavel Rudnick and Vladislav Averin among the juniors. Russian disabled sportsmen earned six gold medals: Kristina Govorova, Dmitriy Okulov and Sergey Vyatkin won three gold doubles (on the left and right hands). Sergey Vyatkin won the title for the eighth time.
