Uralkali sponsors the ‘Stroganov Mile – 2019’ snowkiting championship

31.01.2019

The ‘Stroganov Mile – 2019’ — an acclaimed snowkiting tournament sponsored by Uralkali — started on January 31 in Usolye in the basin of the Kama River.

From 31 January to 3 February, Usolye will host the national snowkiting freestyle championship, a stage of the Russia Cup featuring course racing, and the Tenth Open Snowkiting Championship of Perm Region including both course racing and freestyle. Eighty athletes from all over Russia are going to compete in the forthcoming tournament.

Residents and guests of Usolye will be able to partake of the festival program of the tournament. Thus, the territory of the Stroganov Palace museum complex will host some interactive entertainment events, workshops, master classes and excursions.

Irina Konstantinova, Uralkali HR Director, commented:

As a part of Uralkali’s support program for the cities of corporate presence, the Company has traditionally sponsored the Stroganov Mile — a snowkiting tournament that is one of the most spectacular winter events.

Reference

Snowkiting or kite skiing is an outdoor winter sport where people use kite power to glide on snow or ice using ski or snowboard.

Uralkali makes annual charitable donations to Usolye to organize the snowkiting championship known as the ‘Stroganov Mile’, the international festival ‘Russian Bell Chimes’, the ‘Stroganov Regata’ and the ‘Stroganov Verst’ equestrian tournament.

In 2017 and 2016, Uralkali supported a municipal contest of socially pertinent projects. This resulted in the implementation of environmental initiatives, projects to encourage the preservation of cultural and family values, and other initiatives to support youth organizations and to promote physical culture and sports.

Uralkali (www.uralkali.com) is one of the world’s largest potash producers and exporters. The Company’s assets consist of 5 mines and 7 ore treatment plants in the towns of Berezniki and Solikamsk (Perm Region, Russia). Uralkali employs ca. 12,000 people in the main production unit.
