Uralkali supports opening of a drive-in cinema in Solikamsk

20.08.2020

Solikamsks first drive-in cinema is opening in the town today. The venture was made possible thanks to support from Uralkali. The cinema has a large screen (6×9 meters), and the programme includes 15 films of Russian and international origin. Two films will be screened a day at weekends, with one daily viewing on weekdays.

The drive-in cinema has been installed in Voskresenskaya Square, the main square in Solikamsk. It was a gift from Uralkali to residents of the town, to celebrate two important anniversaries: Miners Day and Solikamsk Town Day. Attendance is free, although guests will have to register in advance. The cinema has capacity for 100 cars, allowing for a 1.5 m gap between each vehicle. Due to current health restrictions, vehicle capacity will be limited to 2 people per car (aside from members of the same household). The film audio will be streamed to the cars stereo systems.

Aleksey Fedotov, Head of the Solikamsk municipal district, commented:

There are drive-in cinemas in several Russian cities, but this is the first of its kind in Solikamsk, and it has a special value in light of current epidemiological restrictions. In Solikamsk, were celebrating both Miners Day and Solikamsk Town Day, and I would like to congratulate all miners and associated specialists on this occasion. I would also like to thank Uralkali for its support of various social, cultural and sporting initiatives to improve the well-being of our community.

Andrey Zhukov, Head of Solikamsk-3 mine, commented:

Uralkali has a long history of supporting Solikamsk with the organisation and implementation of significant city-wide projects. This year, the town received a very special gift for Solikamsk Town Day and Miners Day. The drive-in cinema is a new feature for Solikamsk residents, and it allows them to enjoy the cinema while observing current health restrictions. I am sure that during the celebrations the cinema will play a key role in bringing Solikamsks residents and visitors together safely and responsibly.

Uralkali (www.uralkali.com) is one of the worlds largest potash producers and exporters. The Companys assets consist of 5 mines and 7 ore treatment plants in the towns of Berezniki and Solikamsk (Perm Region, Russia). Uralkali employs more than 12,000 people in the main production unit.
