Volunteers of Uralkali’s environmental movement held the first eco-landing in 2013

Last Saturday participants of Uralkali’s volunteer environmental movement Green Contour held this year's first eco-landing in the coastal area of Lake Redikor, a favorite place of rest of the townspeople.

Uralkali provided activists with transport for delivery of people, equipment for garbage removal, inventory, special uniform, and also organized a lunch. The voluntary Saturday work was attended by about 50 people who collected 89 bags of garbage.

After the end of the eco-landing participants of the voluntary Saturday work received souvenir magnets with the logo of the movement. Children who helped adults in cleanup made posters in defense of the environment. Head of the Green Contour Ekaterina Korochkina told the children why they cannot litter in the woods, as, for example, the decay period for plastic bottles varies from 500 to 1000 years.

As a regular participant of garbage collection I can say that this year there was much less garbage,” says the regional geologist of Uralkali Larisa Plotnikova who also participated in eco-landing. “That's good that a lot of children participated in garbage collection. This year in addition to garbage collection around Berezniki and Solikamsk representatives of the Green Contour are also planning to organize a workshop in the children's camp Ural Gems on environmental issues.

Traditionally, the best participants of the movement will be awarded with the prize Golden Glove during the final evening in December 2013.

All events of our environmental movement are primarily aimed at changing people's attitudes to the environment,” says Ekaterina Korochkina, a leading specialist of the chief geologist department of OJSC Uralkali, the head of the environmental movement Green Contour. Each participant of the eco-landings is given the opportunity to contribute to the development of ecological culture and improving the ecological condition in recreational areas.

The environmental movement originated four years ago under the name Eco Recreation Area as a social project of Silvinit’s youth movement. After the merger Uralkali continued to support and develop the initiative. During the four years of the movement’s activities it held 18 garbage collections at Lake Redikor, in Klestovsky forest, at the forest fountain, in Ogurdino. They were attended by more than 200 people; 8 Kamaz trucks were required to remove the garbage. Last autumn the volunteers joined the All-Russian environmental project “Let’s do it!” The event is planned again for September 2013, and the Green Contour will definitely take part in it.

Smoking in mines is prohibited.
Work at heights without wearing a safety harness is prohibited.
Work in electrical installations under voltage is prohibited.
It is forbidden to perform work and stay in the bottomhole zone during the operation of the mining machine.
Loading and unloading operations when people are in the danger zone are prohibited.
Working in underground mines with unsecured and/or unassembled roofing is prohibited.
It is forbidden to carry out repairs and maintenance of conveyors without disconnecting from energy sources, use of conveyors for transfer of people and goods (materials and/or equipment), crossing (either above or under) operating conveyors by employees are not allowed.
It is forbidden to carry out welding and flame work in underground mines and mine buildings without the necessary safety measures preventing fire.
