Uralkali awards scholarships to PNRPU students

The traditional presentation of Uralkali scholarships to the best students at Perm National Research Polytechnic University (PNRPU) has taken place at the "Oil & Gas and Mining" Russian Youth Forum.

Anatoly Tashkinov, the PNRPU Vice Chancellor for Research and Innovation who opened the ceremony, noted that the forum was made possible thanks to the support of its sponsors, including Uralkali.

The Forum’s participants were greeted by Boris Serebrennikov, Uralkali’s Director of Production. Mr. Serebrennikov spoke about the company’s capacity expansion programme and development strategy. As part of the expansion programme, the Company will increase its KCI capacity to 13 million tonnes by the end of 2012. By 2021, Uralkali intends to reach a KCI capacity of 19 million tonnes per year.

Awarding the scholarships to the students, Natalia Volvach, Head of Uralkali’s Personnel and Recruitment Department, remarked:

We apply advanced technologies, utilise global expertise and introduce best practices. But we would not have been able to achieve the results we have up to now without the most important asset: our specialists! We are keen to recruit students who are ambitious, committed to professional development, willing to undertake challenging tasks and manage them successfully.

Some scholarship winners have completed an internship at Uralkali. Among them is Yuri Kurkov, a 5th year student in the Mining & Oil Faculty, who commented:

I completed my first work experience at Uralkali after my third year of studies, on the advice of my teacher. I enjoyed it very much; it’s a great company.

The management of Berezniki-4, where Yuri completed his latest work experience, also noticed the student’s initiative and strong communication skills.

Elena Rassudikhina is another scholarship winner from the Chemical Engineering Faculty. Uralkali provides financial support for Elena’s education, and next year she will start her professional career with the Company.

Earlier this term Uralkali has granted scholarships to the students of Berezniki affiliate of PNRPU, as well as to the students of Berezniki Polytechnic College and the Solikamsk Mining and Chemical College.

Smoking in mines is prohibited.
Work at heights without wearing a safety harness is prohibited.
Work in electrical installations under voltage is prohibited.
It is forbidden to perform work and stay in the bottomhole zone during the operation of the mining machine.
Loading and unloading operations when people are in the danger zone are prohibited.
Working in underground mines with unsecured and/or unassembled roofing is prohibited.
It is forbidden to carry out repairs and maintenance of conveyors without disconnecting from energy sources, use of conveyors for transfer of people and goods (materials and/or equipment), crossing (either above or under) operating conveyors by employees are not allowed.
It is forbidden to carry out welding and flame work in underground mines and mine buildings without the necessary safety measures preventing fire.
