Uralkali awards scholarships to college students for first semester of 2012\2013

Uralkali (LSE: URKA, the “Company”) has awarded scholarship certificates to the best students from collegesin Berezniki and Solikamsk following the results of the first semester of the 2012-2013 academic year. Uralkali is keen to recruit young, talented professionals and actively cooperates with universities and specialist secondary schools.

The certificates were awarded to ten students from Berezniki in the second to fourth years of study, specialising in “Installation, setup and launch of electrical equipment in industrial and civil buildings,” “Technical launch and maintenance of electrical and electro-mechanical equipment”, “Instrumentation and controls setup”, and “Instrumentation and controls maintenance”.

In Solikamsk, scholarships were awarded to ten students from the third to fourth years of study, specialising in “Underground mining”, “Automation of technological processes and production”, and “Technical exploitation and maintenance of electrical and electro-mechanical equipment”.

Principals from educational institutions, as well as Natalia Volvach, the Head of Uralkali’s Personnel and Recruitment Department, attended the scholarship presentation ceremony at colleges in Berezniki and Solikamsk.

Natalia Volvach commented:

Many college graduates come to Uralkali as specialists, and the company is keen to bring the best out of them. If a young professional demonstrates excellent performance, then Uralkali will financially support further education in specialist areas which are in demand, and will also help the graduate to develop into a manager.

Many scholarship recipients have already made a decision on their place of work, while some of them have gained on-site experience at Uralkali and affiliate companies.

Dmitry Lesnikov, one of the scholarship recipients, added:

I completed an internship in the mine over the summer. I like Uralkali a great deal, it is a stable company which is constantly developing. The opening of a new mine will offer good prospects to young people. That is why I see my future with Uralkali.

Uralkali has awarded scholarships to students from Berezniki Polytechnic College since 2010 and to students from Solikamsk Mining and Chemical College since 2011. Each scholarship amounts to RUB 1,300 per month. To become a scholar, students must demonstrate excellent academic performance, provide positive references from their internship, and actively participate in the social life of their college.
