Uralkali's sportsmen participating in Chemical Industry Trade Union Olympics

Uralkali’s sportsmen have participated in the opening ceremony of the Olympics organised by the Perm Affiliate of the Russian Chemical Industry Trade Union.

In total, nine teams from chemical companies took part in the opening ceremony, of which four teams represented Uralkali Group, including sportsmen from Berezniki, and Uralkali’s subsidiaries' AvtoTransKali and Uralkali-Remont.

Mr. Alexei Klein, Chairman of the Perm Affiliate of the Russian Chemical Industry Trade Union, welcomed the participants and wished them luck in the new sport season. Then, before the new competitions started, the winning teams and the best athletes of the previous Olympics were awarded. Uralkali’s team from Solikamsk came third and young potash plant employees Pavel Fedoseev, Sergei Latkin, Semen Kun and Kristina Kuznetsova were awarded as the best athletes.

The Olympics organised by the Perm Affiliate of the Russian Chemical Industry Trade Union have been held throughout several decades, and during this time Uralkali’s sportsmen took the most active part in it. In the new sports season, participants will compete in 10 sports.

— It’s an honour for me to represent Uralkali at the regional level, — says athlete Pavel Fedoseev. — At the regional level, the competitors are strong, and Uralkali helps a lot to get excellent results by providing training locations.

— To participate in the Olympics organised by the Perm Affiliate of the Russian Chemical Industry Trade Union is a matter of prestige and importance both for the Company and its sportsmen, — emphasizes Irina Kolesnik, Uralkali Trade Union Chairperson. — The Company along with its trade union supports sport teams and participation in contests of various levels. It’s worth noting that young sportsmen come to replace the veterans, so Uralkali’s sport traditions continue.

To make healthy life style popular, the Company holds its own corporate Olympics. In 2012, over 2000 employees took part in it. Also the employees got the opportunity to attend swimming pools and ski facilities at 50% rate under the arrangements «Skiing to health» and «Swimming to health».
