Staff Development

Highly-skilled employees are Uralkali’s main asset and the foundation for its future growth. The Company is, therefore, deeply committed to constantly improving staff training and development: Uralkali works closely with higher education institutions and funds specialist training for its employees.

Since 2003 Uralkali has been implementing a staff reserve and development programme. Experienced leaders are educated through MBA programmes.

For many years Uralkali has realised a programme providing secondary and higher vocational education in the major fields mostly required by the Company. Every employee has an opportunity to participate in the contest to receive additional education.

In 2010, more than 6 thousand employees received training through various vocational education, professional development and career training programmes. 4,2 thousand managers and professionals, as well as about 2 thousand workers, were trained at various refresher courses and vocational education programmes. Uralkali sponsored vocational training and specialist higher education for 100 employees in 2010.

Staff Reserve

Since 2003 Uralkali has been implementing a staff reserve and development programme with an objective to create a pool for managing positions of different levels.

  • Uralkali selects candidates to managing positions who know the company, its business and specific features, who have management expertise and experience, and who are ready to become managers
  • The staff reserve programme includes training for key management positions as well as development of the skills for the current position of an employee.

The development programme:

  • allows obtaining systematised knowledge on business processes, advanced approaches to enterprise management
  • helps Uralkali’s employees develop their business and professional qualities, which are essential for successful management

Currently the programme is implemented jointly with Saint Petersburg International Institute of Management (IMISP). In 2010, 236 employees of the Company were trained under the programme, including:

  • 23 top managers
  • 70 medium-level managers
  • 43 employees from the management staff reserve
  • 100 employees from the functional staff reserve

The programme involves professionals at all levels, which helps to improve the overall management of the Company.
