JSC VNII Galurgii Wins Information Modelling and Design Category at First World Construction Championship

JSC VNII Galurgii, the leading Russian R&D and design institute for innovation in mining chemical feedstock, which collaborates closely with Uralkali on a number of projects, has won first prize in the ‘Information modelling and design’ category at the first World Construction Championship. The competition took place in Sochi, Russia from 20-23 April 2021, and was organized by the Ministry of Construction, Housing and Utilities of the Russian Federation and State Atomic Energy Corporation ROSATOM.  JSC VNII Galurgii’s team also won a special prize awarded by Russian branch of Building Smart ‘For best practical application of the openBIM (Building Information Modelling) approach’.

Almost 500 industry experts from Russia, Egypt, Turkey, Kazakhstan and Belarus took part in the Championship finals, which included 19 different individual and team nominations. The teams that took part in the Championship were made up of employees from 17 companies involved in major infrastructural projects around the world.

Other event invitees included representatives from industrial construction companies, government agencies, and the wider professional community. The Championship venue was also home to corporate exhibitions by partner organizations.

JSC VNII Galurgii JSC is a leading Russian R&D and design institute for conducting surveys and developing innovative technology for the extraction and processing of mining chemical feedstock. The company’s headquarters are in Perm but it also has offices in St. Petersburg and Berezniki.

The Institute is currently carrying out a series of studies looking into the safety of potash mining, and a detailed study of the geology, hydrogeology and hydrology of the Verkhnekamskoye potassium and magnesium deposit. Smoking in mines is prohibited.
Work at heights without wearing a safety harness is prohibited.
Work in electrical installations under voltage is prohibited.
It is forbidden to perform work and stay in the bottomhole zone during the operation of the mining machine.
Loading and unloading operations when people are in the danger zone are prohibited.
Working in underground mines with unsecured and/or unassembled roofing is prohibited.
It is forbidden to carry out repairs and maintenance of conveyors without disconnecting from energy sources, use of conveyors for transfer of people and goods (materials and/or equipment), crossing (either above or under) operating conveyors by employees are not allowed.
It is forbidden to carry out welding and flame work in underground mines and mine buildings without the necessary safety measures preventing fire.
