Human rights are taken very seriously by the Company. During every decision-making process, Uralkali analyses the potential impact on human rights.

In accordance with the Human Rights Policy, the Company accepts the following generally recognised documents in this area:

In its relations with employees, Uralkali shall always:


  • Respect human rights and adhere to the Human Rights Policy
  • Respect human dignity and not permit any form of discrimination against any person on the basis of race, sex, age, religion, nationality, social status or other characteristics not related to their professional qualities and individual performance
  • Maintain cultural diversity in the Company

Uralkali incorporates provisions aimed at ensuring the respect and protection of human rights into its internal documents, including the Code of Corporate Culture.

In its relations with local communities, Uralkali is committed to:


  • Respecting the rights, culture and customs of local communities, including the rights of indigenous minorities
  • Taking all possible measures to prevent any infringement of the rights of local communities

In the area of safety, Uralkali shall:


  • Take measures to ensure the safety of the Company and its employees, to prevent any violation of human rights
  • Protect the life and health of its employees and create a favourable working environment

In its relations with business partners, the Company:


  • Takes every possible measure to maintain high standards in the protection of human rights and business ethics
  • Is engaged in an ongoing and open dialogue with stakeholders and takes their interests into consideration in all activities

When signing new contracts, Uralkali’s counterparties must review the principles set out in this Policy to ensure their alignment.

Observance of the Human Rights Policy

The Company enforces compliance with the Human Rights Policy across all of the its assets. This includes identifying and managing potential risks that could lead to the violation of human rights, providing training and monitoring and preparing reports on the observance of human rights in the business.

Uralkali recognises the importance of identifying, analysing and assessing human rights risks. The Company strives to integrate the necessary control procedures into the risk management system. These control procedures are aimed at preventing risks from occuring and developing actions to mitigate the negative consequences of such risks in the event that they cannot be prevented.

Uralkali regularly informs and trains its employees with regard to upholding human rights requirements and the relevant behavioral principles, in order to raise awareness of these issues and to foster a cooperative culture within the Company. The Company is currently developing an online course on human rights.

The Company closely monitors and controls human rights matters. Reports on compliance with the Human Rights Policy are regularly submitted to the Sustainable Development Committee and the Board of Directors to ensure continuous improvements are being made in this area.

Observance of the Policy is a factor considered as part of the performance assessment of both the Company and individual employees.

Disclosure on levels of compliance is included in the Company’s sustainability reports.

Smoking in mines is prohibited.
Work at heights without wearing a safety harness is prohibited.
Work in electrical installations under voltage is prohibited.
It is forbidden to perform work and stay in the bottomhole zone during the operation of the mining machine.
Loading and unloading operations when people are in the danger zone are prohibited.
Working in underground mines with unsecured and/or unassembled roofing is prohibited.
It is forbidden to carry out repairs and maintenance of conveyors without disconnecting from energy sources, use of conveyors for transfer of people and goods (materials and/or equipment), crossing (either above or under) operating conveyors by employees are not allowed.
It is forbidden to carry out welding and flame work in underground mines and mine buildings without the necessary safety measures preventing fire.
